This is a TED Talk by Evelyn Glennie — one of my favorite ones. She is a musician who has been deaf since the age of twelve, and she aims to show how much more there is to listening and to hearing music than perceiving sound waves that hit your eardrums. Also she plays a marimba in the video. I’m a sucker for those. 🙂
Incidentally, what she has to say illustrates the reason that I find even high-quality, noise-isolating earbuds fundamentally unsatisfying. So…hope you enjoy this too.
