This is an older TED talk, from 2007, but I only heard about it within the last year. Photosynth looks incroyablement chouette–and it was only a few years ago I thought to myself, “The person who invented the digital camera deserves an eternal hug.” Digital SLRs were hard to comprehend; not that I couldn’t use them, but hard to comprehend how such a small thing can capture such high-quality images, how it can work at all.
I can’t take new technologies for granted all the time, because my attitude toward them is punctuated with memories of playing Sleuth on the green-and-black screen of my family’s old Compaq Portable. You know, the one that bears an uncanny resemblance to a sewing machine case.
So what do the people who invented Photosynth deserve?
